i recently asking this women out who here has problems with women after being a jw.

@freddo EW, no! Those are stock standard, generic questions that she's most likely SICK of answering (everyone asks the same cookie cutter questions when meeting someone new - be it with romantic or platonic intentions).

Avoid sounding like you're interviewing her, @Holden Caufield. I don't have any snazzy acronyms for you, but try be a little creative. If you're bold enough, even joke during the moments of uneasy silences that a buddy of yours gave you this acronym to help you get through it, lol. You could turn it into a game! Tell her she has to guess what the F-O-R-D stands for. Have a laugh. This could bring out the playful nature in both of you and ease the tension. Plus, that kind of conversation will be memorable for her :).

Can someone tell me why Joan's ark and the flood not true and impossible?

while watching ex jw videos on youtube many of them talk about how noah's ark and the flood didn't happen and it's impossible.

Oh this stoopid shunning thing!!

warning - vent ahead....... so, my father (still very much in jw but who has at least had the decency to still keep in contact with me and hubby and to show interest in why we aren't attending and respect where we are at) is in intensive care at a local hospital and is intubated and sedated with some serious health issues.

i'm next of kin so i get all the phone calls from the hospital.. so, the rest of the "family" has cut me off because we are inactive and because the ever-active jw gossip grapevine has rumoured with a sibilant slithy hissy voice: "apossstassssy" is the cause of our inactivity.. whatever.. but now i've had to contact said "family" with the news about my father and what is going on....... so, dad's sisters answer my calls and manage to act and conduct themselves with a degree of decorum.. my sister on the other hand - well, she doesn't deign to answer my calls and texts for most of the day.

i push the issue tonight and insist on speaking to her when my brother-in-law answers the call.

@Unstuck Your dumbass sister still wants this to drag on. Does she not realize it's about your father's health and well-being and NOT some petty sibling rivalry? I own heels higher than her standards for a power trip.

that;s what my wife (and all jw's) gets to hear about us at the kingdom hall today, (hmmmm, i wonder if she'll raise her hand to answer this one) ... .

watchtower study ... today, apostates and others who create divisions in the congregation use “smooth talk and flattering speech.” (romans 16:17, 18) they may pretend to care about others, but in reality, they are selfish.. (the watchtower - study edition (simplified version) 10/17 page 4 paragraph 7).

This really strikes a nerve with me. I have ALWAYS had the same level of integrity and love for my fellow man both before I learned the real truth and AFTER I left the organization.

Here's what's despicable to me:

While in the organization, I would go out of my way to take care of other sisters and be kind and generous with them. And it was a pleasure. These acts of kindness and compassion were chalked up to "Jehovah's blessings" for these sisters. When these sisters were down and out and I'd do something to cheer them up, they'd use this as evidence that Jehovah cares for them and is using ones in the congregation to upbuild them.

After I became an "apostate" (ie, woke up), all my tireless efforts to just be a good friend have been branded as "flattery and smooth talk" and a sinister ploy to lead these sisters astray.

Same person. Same heart. Same love. One minute I'm fulfilling the unity and love narrative of WT, the next, I'm an "agent of Satan" - a wicked and malevolent conduit of the demons. It's disgusting how much a good-hearted person can be vilified and demonized based on the dividing agenda of a cult leadership in New York.

@Jayk A rich man doesn't need to tell you he's rich. Strength of character usually comes through without a person having to spell out their accolades for us. The fact that you felt it necessary to broadcast your alleged achievements is very telling in itself.

As for you not being sure what @jp1692's point is, you've merely confirmed what he was insinuating: you lack basic comprehension and the ability to synthesize the crux of very simple notions put forth to you.

You resort to the straw-man argument of not being an alcoholic since you don't know the difference between malt liquor and single malt whiskey. In that vein, I'd say you never went past the fourth grade since you don't know the difference between "your" and "you're".

in a recent canadian case i've seen (on line video in threads on here) the wt lawyer says that disfellowshipping isn't actual shunning but only a cutting off of spiritual association.

but what case is it and is there a transcript available on line?.

any other "good" examples from the point of view that it proves wt speak out of both sides of their mouths?.

so i suffered through another one of these idiotic "encouraging" talks by tony vives.. he prattled on about loyalty, and pretty well concentrated on three areas.

loyalty to ones marriage mate, which is no problem.

if one is married they really do owe loyalty to their husband or wife.. second, he hammered on "loyalty" by having nothing to do with a df'd family member, even a child!
